The Search
We start the MM Carz story at the dawn of the new millennium, as co-founders Henry Xin and Bobby Hu set out on their respective career journeys, searching for their true calling. For Henry, it was admission to Chinese Medicine and Human Biology at RMIT in 2003, while Bobby pursued Traffic Science and Engineering at Hua Zhong University in China in 2002.
Henry's path to becoming an acupuncturist took an unexpected turn in 2009 when he deferred his studies to open a liquor business at Bulleen Plaza—a bold entrepreneurial step that hinted at what was to come. Meanwhile, Bobby set his sights abroad in 2008, moving to Australia to study at Monash University, where he completed a Master's in Professional Accounting in pursuit of a corporate career.
For Henry, the liquor business proved to be a stepping stone rather than a destination. In 2011, he returned to complete his double bachelor's degree and, upon graduation, began practising acupuncture at a wellness clinic in Chadstone Shopping Centre. But a more adventurous opportunity soon presented itself—an offer to join Disney Cruise lines, a luxury cruise ship, as an onboard acupuncturist.
Expenses paid while travelling the world? It was an opportunity too enticing to ignore. Seeing it as a fitting final chapter to his 20s before settling down, Henry embarked on this journey, sailing the coasts of North and South America for nearly two years. Yet, even while exploring the seas, another call was waiting to be answered back home.
Answering The Call
For Bobby, that call came earlier. By mid-2011, he had already decided to pivot from accounting to sales—specifically, motor sales. His journey began at Preston Motors Group, followed by Penfold Motors, a brief stop at Heidelberg 三菱, and finally, Doncaster 寶馬, where he would find his long-term footing in the automotive industry.
Henry's return home in 2013 marked a new chapter. Leaving behind his time at sea, he joined Melbourne's Cheapest Cars, eager to apply his skills in a different industry. A year later, seeking a role closer to home, he made the move to Doncaster 寶馬 in February 2014.
A Shared Vision
It was at Doncaster 寶馬 where Henry and Bobby's paths aligned. Their shared drive for excellence, commitment to high standards, and appreciation for precision engineering turned them from co-workers into lifelong business partners. Over the course of a decade, they developed a deep respect for the 寶馬 M Series philosophy—one that champions top-tier performance, precision, and engineering excellence.
That philosophy would become the foundation of MM Carz. More than just a dealership, MM Carz was built on a vision: to bring the same level of passion, quality, and customer experience they had cultivated at 寶馬 into their own venture. Their journey—from students exploring different career paths to business owners following their true calling—had come full circle.
And so, MM Carz was born. A name that represents not just cars, but a commitment to excellence, a relentless pursuit of the best, and the drive to forge their own path in the automotive world.
