Over deze auto
Very few four-wheel drives let you see all four corners of the bonnet from the driver’s seat anymore. This 2014 Land Rover Discovery Series 4 SDV6 HSE does exactly that, retaining the commanding, upright stance that turned this generation into an icon before luxury SUVs dissolved into rounded silhouettes.
On tarmac it rides with the deliberate composure of a prestige saloon, using its air suspension to glide over broken road surfaces and settle flat on open country lanes. The twin-turbo diesel delivers a deep, unflustered wave of torque through an eight-speed automatic, giving you effortless overtaking power and serious towing muscle without ever feeling strained.
Inside, the stepped roofline and tall glasshouse create an airy, panoramic cabin that makes conventional wagons feel enclosed. It provides genuine, adult-sized space across all three rows rather than token occasional seating, while folding the rear rows flat opens up a vast, level cargo floor that readily swallows camping gear, sports equipment, or luggage for a long-distance escape.
For touring families who want authentic cross-country capability without sacrificing everyday comfort, the ownership argument is hard to beat. The diesel powertrain offers the touring range required for big Australian road trips, while the balance of effortless towing ability and seven-seat versatility means you never have to choose between taking the caravan or taking the family.
Finished in classic black over a well-kept leather interior, this example has covered 115,000 kilometres – remarkably low mileage for a vehicle built to traverse continents. It shows all the hallmarks of a car that has lived a sheltered suburban life rather than enduring years of punishing bush tracks.
Come and take the wheel at our Nunawading showroom to experience that high-riding driving position firsthand. Once you settle into the driver’s seat and take in the view, the appeal of an uncompromised Discovery becomes immediately clear.
It has enough low-down pulling power to tow a small cottage, which comes in handy on weekends when your family packs like you are moving into one.
